The Mathematics Trainers’ Guild

The Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, Philippines (MTG) is a non-stock, non-profit organization of mathematics teachers committed to develop and promote excellence in Mathematics education and training in the Philippines. Organized in 1995, its initial aim was to facilitate the training of mathematically gifted Filipino elementary students to prepare them for international mathematics competitions. Now on its tenth year since its inception, the MTG has already sent an estimated three hundred students to more than fifty international mathematics competitions in more than ten foreign countries. It has also since expanded its aims by including the secondary level in its trainings, as well as by uplifting the standards of mathematics education in the Philippines as a whole, through seminars and workshops for math teachers and students alike. The MTG was co-founded by Dr. Simon L. Chua, Ms. Loly Ong, Mr. Misael Jose Fisico and Mrs. Rechilda P. Villame.

MTG Kids Online

MTG Kids Online is a web log (blog) site dedicated for the trainees of the Mathematics Challenge for Filipino Kids, the MTG’s yearlong training program and recruitment process for the best mathematical minds in the country. Successful MTG trainees who pass the intensive elimination process make it to the MTG Delegation to International Mathematics Competitions, where they get to represent the country in contests abroad. Aside from the hundreds of MTG Kids that carried the country’s colors in international tilts, the MTG has also trained thousands of gifted Filipino students all over the archipelago. MTG Kids Online aims to connect all these MTG kids through the constant exchange of thoughts and information regarding what’s going on about the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild and mathematics education in the Philippines as a whole. Contents of this website are mostly composed by MTG kids themselves.
