Do you look forward to representing the country in international mathematics competitions?
Yes, I look forward to representing my country in contests. I have already represented the Philippines last year and I found it very fun and interesting. However, it wasn’t so easy because it was during the school year so I had to be absent and I had to catch up. I also had to take my exams before I left. But still, going to math contests is a very good experience. --Evan Nicolo Lao, Gr. 6 from Xavier School Of course! I think it’s really a great honor to represent our country. I feel blessed that I was part of the Philippine delegation to the China Math Olympiad last August 7 to 13 in Shenzhen. It’s actually rather overwhelming when you see you are competing with the best young mathematicians of other countries. As it says in our shirts, “I’m proud to be an MTG kid!” --Beatriz Raine Bayudan, Gr. 6 from St. Paul College, Pasig ![]() ![]() ![]() MTG Kids (clockwise from top left) Annie Baniqued, Bea Bayudan, and Evan Lao share what they feel about representing the country in international mathematics competitions.
Yes, because it would be an honor and if children of our country were to participate in such competitions, it would be known that Filipinos are capable of being good in mathematics. When I represented the country, it felt good to have these trainings and to have met new friends. I think that is what the MTG is all about.
--Angeline Baniqued, Gr. 7 from St. Paul College, Pasig Yes, because I am always looking for excitement in my life and I see many things as challenges. I have been working so hard to get that very special opportunity. I studied so hard these past days to pass the exams and contests given by the MTG. Until this time, it is the highest goal of my life. --Rio Marie Callos, Gr. 6 from Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral School Yes, I like to represent the country because of three things. First of all, I like to go to another country. Next, I also want to represent my school. Lastly, I want to learn more about math through the competitions. --Gabriel Borlongan, 1st yr. from Philippine Science High School Yes, of course. It would be quite an interesting experience, where I will be able to learn many different things and try different activities as well. It would be fun to go, because I will meet new people and see new places. --Nica Policarpio, Gr. 7 from Poveda Learning Center I look forward to representing the country in international mathematics competitions. I have represented the Philippines in an international competition and it felt great because I got 3rd Honors. --Anthony Bajacan, Gr. 7 from Southridge School Yes, I would like it if I’d have a chance because I know it will be a very good feeling because you’ll be included with all of the top mathematicians in your country and fight with the name of your country in your shoulders. If I’m lucky enough, I could probably bring home a medal that my school and family will appreciate and I will also appreciate it in my entire life. --Anonymous Yes, I am looking forward to representing our country in international competitions because I want my country to be proud of me.
