Ask

In this edition of Ask, MTG trainees answer the question, Is Math your favorite subject? Why or why not?

Yes. For me, Math is the easiest subject. I also think it’s the one subject that is the most important and most applicable in life. Math is also needed in most jobs in the future. That is why it is my favorite subject.
-- Charles Lim, Gr. 7 from Xavier School

Yes. Math helps me to have quick analytical thinking skills. It is more on application rather than memorization. Math is part of our everyday life. We use it in every daily activity.
-- Aileen Giselle Chua, Gr. 6 from Grace Christian High School

(clockwise from top left) Charles Lim, Aileen Chua, Kerish Villegas and several other MTG Kids tell us why they Math is (or isn’t) their favorite subject.

No. Though Math is interesting, it sometimes makes me really tired. I like English more, but I think I will really like Math sometime in the future.
-- Kerish Villegas, Gr. 7 from La Salle Greenhills

Yes. Math is my favorite subject. This is because when it comes to Math, you don’t have to memorize names or dates. You just have to know some formulas and practice. Besides, for me, Math is the only subject where I can study for a test even with the radio on.
-- Dominique Torralba, 1st year from Poveda Learning Center

Yes. Math is my favorite subject. It is my favorite because I know that this can be useful in our everyday life. Math is also one of the most essential subjects that we have to learn. It is one of the most challenging subjects as well. If you can understand Math, you can do anything.
-- Adi Amor, Gr. 7 from St. Paul’s College, Pasig

Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not my favorite subject. Sometimes it is my favorite subject because it is fun and I like solving. Sometimes it’s not because it becomes hard and boring when there are a lot of lectures. But mostly I like Math because it teaches me things I am not aware of and makes me smarter with numbers.
-- Ma. Nicolette Gaisim, Gr. 6 from St. Paul’s College, Pasig

Math is not my favorite subject. I like HELE and Arts more because I like being artistic and doing crafts. Math is my next favorite subject because it is challenging.
-- Agnes D. Cororaton, Gr. 7 from St. Paul’s College, Pasig

It is my favorite because I enjoy solving math problems especially algebra. It’s fun to do things like this but I don’t know why. I always look to Math period everyday..
-- Bryan Paolo Lao, 1st year from Xavier School

Math is my favorite subject because I love numbers and I also love solving different kinds of problems. I love Math because I use this in everyday life even when I grow up. Math is also challenging, that’s why it is special for me.
-- Fiona Margarita S. Aytona

Yes. It’s the only subject I understand. You don’t have to memorize names, dates, places, etc. Math has been the subject where I get my highest grades since Grade 5. It only takes numbers and figures. Also, you use Math in other subjects like Science. Math is used in everyday life that’s why it is also important.

Though mathematics is not necessarily the favorite subject of some of the MTG Kids that we have asked, it seems that they all agree that they like the challenge that this subject poses for them. Stay tuned for the next edition of Ask when we ask the MTG Kids about their most memorable moments here in the MTG.

Now it's your turn to be Asked! In not more than five sentences, please answer the following question: If you were to represent the country in an international competition, where would you want to go? Why? Please email your answer to this address: mtgkids@yahoo.com. MTG Kids Online would love to hear from you.
