February 27, 2006 by: Carlo Nerecena The Mathematics Trainers' Guild official website (http://www.mtgphil.org) recently announced that the cities of Ilo-ilo and Antipolo are going to be the host cities of the 2006 MTG Young Mathematicians' Intensive In-House Training Program. The training program for elementary will be held in the Ilo-ilo Grand Hotel from April 2 to 5, while the training program for high school will be held in St. Michael's Retreat House from April 9 to 12. The MTG Young Mathematicians' Intensive In-House Training Program serves as the final stage of screening for the 2006 MTG Delegations to International Mathematics Competitions. The top performers of the 2005-2006 MTG Mathematics Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program are the ones who gain entry to this event. True to its name, the Intensive In-House Training Program will put its participants into four days of intense mathematics training. They shall be given tests, which along with other factors such as conduct, shall be the basis of whether or not they would make it to the final roster. Those who make it past this event then have to attend the MTG Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program, where their performance shall be assessed, in order to know as to which competition the MTG Kids are going to be sent. The announcement of the venues for the In-House Training Program also had the following information: (1.) Special discounts could be given to the participants, depending on how they performed during the 2006 MCFKTP. (2.) Deadline for registration is on March 1, 2006. (3.) Parents who wish to ask for assisitance on accomodations (especially in Iloilo City) could contact MTG Office Director Mr. Roberto J. Degolacion at mobile no. 09173246302 or email rjd182001@yahoo.com. This would only be the first time for Ilo-ilo City to host the MTG In-House Training Program. On the other hand, this would be the fourth time for Antipolo City, the host during the first three times that this event was held. This would also be the second time for St. Michael's Retreat House to be it's venue, after the training program was held there in 1999. |
