MTG Announces Participants to China Math Olympiad

The Mathematics Trainers' Guild recently announced the list of MTG Kids that will participate in the 2006 "I Love Math" China Summer Primary and Junior High School Math Olympiads this August, on its website, MTGPhil.org. The announcements can be found here (for primary) and here (for junior high school).

The Olympiad for high school students will be held on August 6 and 7, while that for elementary students will be on August 11 and 12. The venue for this year's competition is in Shandong, China.

Last year's Philippine delegation to the China Junior High Math Olympiad was composed of 33 high school students. They went home with two 2nd Honors and twenty-five 3rd Honors certificates for the Open-ended Problem Solving Competition, and six 2nd Honors and twenty-eight 3rd Honors certificates for the Short Answer Competition.

Meanwhile, the Philippine delegation for the China Primary Math Olympiad that year was composed of 42 elementary students. They went home with four 1st Honors, seven 2nd Honors, and thirty 3rd Honors certificates for the Calculation Skills Competition, and fourteen 2nd Honors and twenty-eight 3rd Honors certificates for the Problem Solving Competition. One of the Philippine teams also bagged 1st place over-all in the Calculation Skills Competition.
